The Ministry of Labour and Employment’s 2024 review sets a March 31, 2025 deadline for finalizing draft rules under the new Labour Codes—an opportunity to revolutionize blue-collar mental health in India. Despite mental health's rising importance in national development, current labour laws overlook stress, anxiety, and depression among workers in challenging environments. Existing frameworks like OSHWC & CSC miss the mark, leaving blue-collar workers without vital mental health support.
It's time for reform:
✅ Mandate employer responsibility for mental well-being
✅ Expand occupational disease definitions to include mental health
✅ Introduce a tripartite worker-wellness model
Let’s build a future where every worker’s mind and body are protected. Together, we can create a more inclusive and sustainable workforce!
