#kenya: *KENYA TO BUY BACK KSH117BN ($900MN) EUROBOND ISSUED IN 2019*
Kenya is planning to buy back a Sh116.7 billion ($900 million) seven-year tranche of the Sh271.76 billion Eurobond issued in May 2019.
The buyback will be financed using the proceeds of a proposed new bond of a longer tenor.
This is the second Eurobond buyback by the Treasury, following a similar repurchase in February 2014.
This move is part of the proactive management of Kenya's external indebtedness, aiming to smooth out the maturity profile of the notes.
