*Construction Sector Remains Expanded in December 2024 But Sector Wants More Larger Projects For Its Sustenance* Sri Lanka’s construction sector maintained its expansion in December 2024, with the sector Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) holding steady at 51.4, unchanged from November. However, survey respondents highlighted the need for more large-scale construction projects to sustain industry growth. The New Orders Index remained at the neutral threshold, indicating that the number of construction projects approved in December was consistent with the previous month. Meanwhile, the Employment Index continued to contract, albeit at a slower pace. The Quantity of Purchases Index recorded an increase, reflecting the expansion in construction activities. Additionally, Suppliers’ Delivery Time remained extended during the month.
