YIP HOLDS ITS SEVENTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING OF THE FOURTH PARLIAMENT

On Saturday 16th February 2025, the Fourth Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana of YIM convened at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall for its Second Sitting of the Second Session, dubbed the SEVENTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING.
The Speaker of Parliament, 'Rt. Hon.' Adam Usman presided over the sitting. The table office was headed by the Clerk Parliament, Miss Mary Tettegah, The Majority Caucus, led by the Majority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Hubert Agbaxode (Akatsi North Youth MP) whiles the Minority Caucus, led by the Minority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Wonder Nicodemus Dzameshie (Anlo Youth MP).
The sitting commenced with opening prayers. Afterward, communications from the Founders and Speaker were read by the Speaker for the attention of the House. Subsequently, Youth MPs present introduced themselves. The Chairman of the Business Committee, who also serves as the Majority Leader, presented the Business Committee Report, which was adopted as the official agenda for the sitting.
At the commencement of Guest Business, Mr. Speaker invited Mr. Lynford Anderson and his wife, Dr. Beverly Anderson, to address the House. Mr. Anderson spoke about "Building Strong Families," which is his brand, and stated his commitment to making Ghana great again. Dr. Beverly Anderson, a worship scholar, spoke on worship and the essence of dedicating time to God. She encouraged Ghanaians to learn more about the act of worshipology in order to benefit from the rewards of true worship to the Almighty God.
At the commencement of the debate on the motion: "This House believes that employers should consider an applicant’s social media presence during the hiring process," the First Deputy Speaker, ‘Hon.’ Enock Kwame Sododzi (Sege Youth MP), assumed the chair to preside over the debate. After the motion was moved and seconded by the Majority and Minority Leaders of Parliament, the House engaged in a rigorous debate. The Majority side argued in favour of the motion, highlighting the importance of detecting red flags and gaining insights into applicants to protect the image and reputation of companies. Conversely, the Minority side opposed the motion, citing privacy and ethical concerns, potential bias, and possible misinterpretation by employers, as well as the irrelevance of social media presence to job performance. At the conclusion of the debate, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair and, upon putting the question, the "AYES" had it.
At the commencement of Public Business, the Executive Director of YIM, Hon. Jones Amegashie-Viglo, briefed the House on arrangements for the Parliamentary Trip to the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana. The proposed date is Wednesday, 12th March 2025, and members will travel in two groups. He also spoke on the composition of the Fifth Parliament. 'Hon.' Divine Enyam Tsyewu (Youth MP for Adaklu and Entertainment Committee Chairman) briefed the House on plans for recreational activities.
At the end of Business, the sitting was adjorned to the Eighth Parliamentary Sitting in March.
