*Moses Koroma of Northwestern Missouri State University Breaks Sierra Leone 60 Meters Hurdles Record*
Moses Koroma, a postgraduate student at Northwestern Missouri State University, shattered the Sierra Leone National Record in the Indoor 60 Meters Hurdles on Saturday, February 15, 2025. He clocked an impressive 7.79 seconds, surpassing his previous record of 7.89 seconds, which he set in 2024 while competing for Wheeling University in West Virginia. His performance in 2024 officially broke the 31-year-old record set by Sierra Leone's legendary hurdler Benjamin Grant (BeeGees) who has held all hurdling records from the 60 Meters to the 400 Meters hurdles for more than 3 decades.
Competing at the 10th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic, Moses finished second in the 60 Meters Hurdles Finals, achieving a new personal best and a new national record. This marked the fourth meet of his 2025 indoor campaign.
With a couple of years of NCAA eligibility remaining, Moses transferred to Northwestern Missouri State to pursue a Master’s degree while continuing his track and field career.
Looking ahead to the World Athletics Championships in September in Tokyo, Japan, Moses expressed excitement about the possibility of competing on the global stage:
"_It will be an amazing accomplishment to represent Sierra Leone at the highest level of competition outside of the Olympics," he said_.
Moses will be back in action next weekend in the 60 meters hurdles again to wrap up his 2025 Indoor campaign.
