The Fisheries Protection Unit (FPU) has impounded 67 illegal boats, unauthorized fishing gear, and immature fish in an operation on Lake Victoria across Jinja and Mayuge districts.
The operation, led by Warrant Officer Stephen Taremwa, the sector commander for Jinja and Mayuge, comes amid rising concerns over illegal fishing. Taremwa warns that enforcement efforts will be intensified to curb the growing threat.
