*"JCI Rises Ahead of Idul Adha Break"*
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) traded higher ahead of the long Idul Adha holiday break, with markets set to reopen next Tuesday, driven largely by external factors such as U.S. labor data released yesterday.
*_The JCI rose 51.074 (0.72%) to 7,120.112 while the LQ45 rose 5.15 points (0.65%) to 801.77._* Trading activity saw 13.531 billion shares exchanged, with a total transaction value of Rp9.126 trillion, including Rp1.196 trillion from negotiated trades. Market breadth showed 276 gainers, 319 losers, and 206 stocks unchanged.
In the currency market, Bank Indonesia’s official JISDOR reference rate slipped 17 points (0.10%) to 16,305 per U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, the spot rupiah added 10 points (0.06%) to 16,275.
*Global Markets*
Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed, after private sector hiring in the U.S. hit its lowest level in over two years, raising concerns that trade policy uncertainty could be weighing on the world’s largest economy.
A report from payrolls processing firm ADP showed that payrolls rose only 37,000 for the month, less than the downwardly revised 60,000 in April and below the consensus forecast of 110,000 that economists polled by Dow Jones had forecast.
The Caixin China General Services PMI rose to 51.1 in May 2025, up from April’s seven-month low of 50.7 and in line with market forecasts.
*Commodities*
Oil prices slipped after a build in U.S. gasoline and diesel inventories and Saudi Arabia’s cut to its July prices for Asian crude buyers.
Gold prices were stable as investors assessed weaker-than-expected U.S. data and ongoing global economic and political uncertainties, while looking ahead to U.S. payroll data for further economic cues.
Malaysian palm oil prices fell below MYR 3,920 per tonne, snapping a two-session gain amid signs of rising inventories.
