About Amrapari (We Can): Amrapari is a women's collective that was created during the COVID-19 Pandemic and lockdown with an aim to create sustainable livelihoods for women in Assam. Amrapari focuses on Women Empowerment and Economic Development through the means of livelihood generation. Along with rising unemployment the pandemic induced lockdown also gave rise to social evils like: domestic violence, child marriage, school dropout. To combat these social ills Amrapari has been working to empower rural women economically and build an equitable and just society for marginalised women. Women collectives were formed to train women in tailor works and integrate their works with market. Amrapari is working diligently to revive the traditional handmade KANTHA (a type of quilt) and reintroduce it in the lifestyle culture.
