Malnad College of Engineering organised ‘3rd IEEE International Conference on Data Science and Information System’ (ICDSIS-2025) in collaboration with IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE Mysore Subsection on 16th and 17th of May 2025.
Dr. Sohiful Anuar Zainol Murad, Faculty of Electronic Engineering & Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Malaysia, delivered a special lecture on ‘AI-Driven Models and Algorithms for Optimizing Integrated Circuit Design: Challenges and Opportunities’.
Dr. M. Kanthababu, Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights at Anna University, delivered a special lecture on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ and expressed that in the next five years, there will be unprecedented and widespread changes in the fields of education and industry. He stated that Artificial Intelligence will transform the current classroom settings and nature of work. He emphasized the necessity of registering new inventions through the patent office, similar to how property and marriage registrations are done.
Dr. Parameshachari B.D., Vice-Chair of IEEE Bangalore Section, stressed that in the publication of research papers, quality must be prioritized over quantity. IEEE takes care to maintain the quality of papers presented at research conferences. He mentioned that less than 30% of submitted papers are accepted for publication, and it is a positive development that only 15% of papers submitted to the conference at Malnad College of Engineering were selected for publication. He also pointed out that papers presented at some conferences have been rejected for publication later due to non-compliance with IEEE norms.
Dr. Shivashankar, Vice-Chair of IEEE Mysore Subsection, remarked that uncertainty and complexity are common in research, but good research will always be recognized.
Dr. S. Pradeep, Director of the college, said that data holds great importance today, and even the application of artificial intelligence requires data. Conferences provide students with opportunities to learn by interacting with researchers. He added that students can gain more knowledge by asking questions during such conferences.
Principal Dr. A.J. Krishnaiah described conferences as platforms that celebrate knowledge.
Deans Dr. Geethakiran and Dr. Nandita B.R, Dr. P.C. Srikanth, Head of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Dr. Ananda Babu J, Head of the Information Science Department, faculty members, and research scholars from various places who had come to present their papers at the conference were present during the inauguration of the conference.
