*THE RESTORER'S DAILY GUIDE* DATE: WEDNESDAY 14TH MAY 2025 THEME: *THE DOCTRINE OF GODLINESS* MEMORIZE 1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. READ 1 Timothy 6:3-11 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY *People will become like what they believe with time.* MESSAGE The word doctrine simply means; teaching. It is a body or system of teachings relating to a particular subject; a particular principle, position, or policy taught or advocated. *And godliness simply means; the nature and pattern of life like God and His holy ways.* The mystery of teaching is such that; it first of all gives an idea, then a belief, and subsequently a pattern of life in people when once it's been taught. *Every preacher will always produce what they preach in their congregation.* The mind of men is not an umpire to judge what is being taught often, it simply accepts as a program whatever it's exposed to often and consequently adopts as the pattern of belief and way of life. This is why doctrine can be very spurious and precarious if it's not according to the tenets of the truth from God's holy word. *Every doctrine that is not according to godliness will produce nothing but ungodliness in people.* We must therefore watch what we expose ourselves to, especially our innocent children. The truth about life in general is that *people will become like what they believe with time*. It is easy to diagnose a person's behavior by first knowing what their beliefs are. And we can always tell what a person's beliefs are by what or who they always listen to. We can also tell what people are listening to by their lifestyles. It is important to note that when people listen to sound doctrine of godliness, they will believe it and will become godly as a result. The strange wave of ungodliness in most worship places today, might not be unconnected with the teachings that lack godliness from religious leaders. ACTION STEPS 1. Go back to serious study of the Bible and filter everything you have believed with the Bible. 2. Always put the Bible between you and everyone no matter who they may be. 3. Believe only that which is confirmed by God's Word. PRAYERS Dear heavenly Father, Thank you for today's devotional guide; deliver me from every false doctrine and establish me in the doctrine of godliness that makes for godliness in Jesus name. Amen.
