In a surprising turn of events, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially acknowledged that errors occurred during the conduct of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), adversely affecting the performance of many candidates.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the Registrar of the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, admitted that technical issues disrupted what should have been a smooth process. *“What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors,”* he stated.
The widespread low scores have sparked concerns among parents, school administrators, and education stakeholders, some of whom have called for an independent investigation. Several affected candidates are reportedly considering legal action against JAMB.
It should well noted that this is the first time JAMB has openly admitted to operational flaws in the UTME process.
