The Univisa is a regional instrument that originated with Zambia and Zimbabwe, initially covering day trips to Botswana through Kazungula. “The Summit commended five Member States – Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe – for accepting to pilot the SADC Tourism UNIVISA, a regional instrument expected to simplify travel and promote regional tourism within SADC countries, thereby boosting intra-regional tourism,” stated the SADC Executive Secretary, Mr. Elias Mpedi Magosi, while reading the SADC-TFCA summit communique. Apparently, countries that constitute the KAZA TFCA had pledged in principle during a KAZA TFCA summit held in Livingstone, Zambia last year that they would consider implementing the instrument.
