"I appeal to other African countries to rehabilitate, protect, and make these urban wetlands useful through environmentally friendly activities, rather than allowing actions that destroy biodiversity," Ambassador Musoni stated. The Ambassador made these remarks in an exclusive interview with ConserveZim in Harare, referencing the recently rehabilitated Nyandungu Eco-Park as an example.

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/zimbabwean-president-calls-empowerment-communities-conservezim-k6jwf Zimbabwean President Calls for Empowerment of Communities Within SADC-TFCAs By John Cassim Zimbabwean President and Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Emmerson Mnangagwa, has called for the empowerment of indigenous people living within the Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs) in the region. Mnangagwa made this call during the official opening of the SADC-TFCA Summit, which is taking place in Harare this morning. President Mnangagwa, affectionately known as ED, bemoaned the effects of climate change in the region. He noted that more protected areas are now struggling to provide water for wildlife, leading to increased human-wildlife conflict as animals interact more with humans in search of water. This was highlighted by Professor Crispen Phiri of Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (MUAST) during a recent workshop in Harare. The workshop was aimed at aligning Zimbabwe’s fisheries and aquaculture regulations with the African Union's Policy Framework and Reform Strategy for Fisheries and Aquaculture in Africa (PFRS).  Professor Phiri stated, "Inadequate processing, storage, and cold chain infrastructure result in substantial post harvest losses of fish products." —————————————— For more on this story follow the links below: ➡️www.conservezim.com ➡️Watch, like and follow Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@conservezim1459 ➡️X: https://twitter.com/ConserveZim ➡️LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/conservezim-conservezim ➡️Facebook: ConserveZim For advertisements contact: Mobile: 0772920301, 0719920301 Email: [email protected], [email protected]

Officials attending the Southern African Development Community – Transfrontier Conservation Area (SADC-TFCA)conference have made this call ahead of the CoP20, which will be held in November 2025 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Zimbabwe argues that its elephant populations are growing by 5–8% annually (an unsustainable rate for available habitat) and has stockpiled about 130 tonnes of ivory (worth an estimated US$600 million). However, the international ban on ivory sales under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) remains in place, limiting revenue for conservation and fuelling debate on sustainable use. “The region should continue to advocate at CITES for decisions that recognize its successful elephant management, using its CITES Engagement Strategy,” urged Domingos Gove, Director of Food Agriculture And Natural Resources at the SADC Secretariat. “We oppose one-size-fits-all policies that disregard national wildlife conservation or management successes and local community livelihood considerations.” For more on this story follow us on the following platforms: ➡️www.conservezim.com ➡️Watch, like and follow Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@conservezim1459 ➡️X: https://twitter.com/ConserveZim ➡️LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/conservezim-conservezim ➡️Facebook: ConserveZim For advertisements contact: Mobile: 0772920301, 0719920301 Email: [email protected], [email protected]

The Univisa is a regional instrument that originated with Zambia and Zimbabwe, initially covering day trips to Botswana through Kazungula. “The Summit commended five Member States – Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe – for accepting to pilot the SADC Tourism UNIVISA, a regional instrument expected to simplify travel and promote regional tourism within SADC countries, thereby boosting intra-regional tourism,” stated the SADC Executive Secretary, Mr. Elias Mpedi Magosi, while reading the SADC-TFCA summit communique. Apparently, countries that constitute the KAZA TFCA had pledged in principle during a KAZA TFCA summit held in Livingstone, Zambia last year that they would consider implementing the instrument.
