*FIRE FALLS ON THE CONSECRATED*
_By Pastor Wilberforce Bezudde_
*³⁶And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. ³⁷ Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” ³⁸ Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. ³⁹ Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”* _(1 Kings 18:36-39 NKJV)_
Take time and read from verses 26 to get a clearer picture of what I am sharing.
The fire that fell from heaven on Elijah’s altar was not just a demonstration of power—it was a divine response to a consecrated life. The prophets of Baal danced, shouted, and cut themselves, but their theatrics produced no fire.
Activity without intimacy is powerless.
The difference between Elijah and the false prophets was not in outward zeal, but in the depth of his consecration. Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down (v. 30).
_*Before the fire could fall, the altar had to be restored.*_
Many desire the fire of God in their lives, but have altars in ruins. That is altars of prayer, obedience, and holiness. Fire does not fall on empty rituals but on lives wholly yielded to God.
Notice that Elijah drenched the sacrifice with water (v. 33-35). In the natural, water quenches fire, yet Elijah knew that when a life is fully surrendered, even what seems impossible becomes an offering for God’s glory. And when the fire came, it consumed not just the sacrifice, but the wood, the stones, the dust, and even the water (v. 38)—a sign that true consecration leaves nothing untouched by God’s presence.
God is not calling us to be nice Christians but to be set apart. The world does not need more polite religion; it needs burning men and women who walk in the purifying, consuming fire of consecration.
_Child of God; will you repair the altar and let the fire fall?_
Hallelujah!
Jesus is Lord!
*Today’s Prayer:*
Lord, we surrender completely to You.
Ignite our hearts with Your holy fire and purify our lives.
Strengthen our altars, break every evil stronghold, and align us with Your perfect will.
May we walk in consecration, power, and boldness for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
