*Wheat Trade to Rise in 2025–26, Drops in 2024–25 on China Slowdown- IGC*
•According to the latest report by the International Grains Council (IGC), the global wheat production forecast for 2025–26 remains unchanged, while the estimate for 2024–25 has been raised by 1 million metric tonnes (MMT), primarily due to upward revisions for Iran. Wheat trade in 2025–26 is expected to increase, supported by higher shipments from Russia. In contrast, trade for 2024–25 is forecast to decline as China reduces its market activity. Wheat consumption projections for 2025–26 have been slightly lowered, mainly due to reduced feed use as demand shifts toward corn. Meanwhile, global wheat carryover stocks for 2025–26 are projected to be higher than previously estimated, although they remain below last year’s levels.
