🔺 VISUCHIKA ( GIT INFECTIONS) 🔺DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS *Cholera *Food poisoning *Enteric bacterial/viral infections *Traveler’s diarrhea *Amoebiasis (if bloody stools present) *Severe dysentery 🔺 SAMPRAPTI (Pathogenesis) Involves: -Dosha: Vata and Kapha (with Pitta sometimes) -Dushya: Rasa, Anna, Agni -Srotas: Annavaha and Purishavaha Srotas -Agni is impaired, and Vata pushes the undigested food upwards and downwards, causing vomiting and diarrhea. The sudden disturbance of Doshas leads to collapse of homeostasis. -It is often Agantuja in nature (external cause – contaminated food/water). 🔺 UPASHAYA (ALLEVIATING FACTORS) -Warm water sips -Digestive herbs (Deepana) -Rest and warmth -Use of Laghu (light), easy-to-digest food like gruel (Peya) -Medications like Bilva, Sunthi, Pippali 🔺ANUPASHAYA (Aggravating Factors) -Cold water or food -Heavy, greasy, or sweet food -Day sleep -Exposure to cold wind -Further eating during indigestion 🔺SAMANYA CHIKITSA (GENERAL TREATMENT) 📌 langhanam *Useful in early stage to restore Agni 📌 pachanam *Sunthi (dry ginger), Pippali, Maricha 📌 deepanam *Chitraka, Hingu, Jeeraka 📌mridhu virechanam *If Pitta is associated (use mild laxatives) 📌fluid replacement *Peya, rice water, ORS (Ayurvedic preparations with Bilva etc.) 🔺 VISHESHA CHIKITSA (Specific Treatment for Visuchika) 📌 Internal Medicines: *Shunthi Churna + Saindhava *Bilvadi Churna *Dadimashtaka Churna *Chitrakadi Vati *Hingwashtaka Churna *Mustadi Kwatha *Panchakola Siddha Jala 📌 Classical Formulations: *Visuchika Churna *Lavangadi Churna *Hingvadi Churna *Jatiphala Churna (for vomiting) * Diet (Pathya): -Peya (rice gruel) with Bilva -Takra (buttermilk) with Trikatu -Laghu ahara (light, non-greasy food) -Avoid dairy, sweets, and fried items
