প্রতি বছরের মতো এই বছরেও এম.ডি. চূড়ান্ত পরীক্ষায় প্রাপ্ত নম্বরের ভিত্তিতে, স্বাস্থ্য ভবনের তত্ত্বাবধানে একটি 'স্বচ্ছ' ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক কাউন্সেলিং প্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে সিনিয়র রেসিডেন্টদের বন্ড পোস্টিং সম্পন্ন করা হয়েছে। এই প্রক্রিয়ায় দ্বিতীয় বর্ষের ৭৭৮ জন সিনিয়র রেসিডেন্ট চিকিৎসক বিভিন্ন হাসপাতালে যোগদানের প্রাথমিক পত্র পান। তাঁদেরই একজন, ডা. দেবাশিস হালদার, গত ২৭শে ফেব্রুয়ারি, নিয়মমাফিক কাউন্সেলিংয়ের মাধ্যমে হাওড়া জেলা হাসপাতালের অ্যানাস্থেসিয়া বিভাগে সিনিয়র রেসিডেন্ট হিসেবে পদায়িত হন। কিন্তু আজ, ২৬শে মে, স্বাস্থ্য ভবনের তরফে যে চূড়ান্ত নিয়োগতালিকা প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে, তাতে দেখা যায়—৭৭৭ জন চিকিৎসকের পোস্টিং অপরিবর্তিত থাকলেও, শুধুমাত্র ডা. দেবাশিস হালদারের পোস্টিং রহস্যজনকভাবে পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে। তাঁকে হাওড়া জেলা হাসপাতালের পরিবর্তে, হঠাৎ করে করে মালদা জেলার গাজোল হাসপাতালে যোগ দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে। এখানে উল্লেখযোগ্য, এই পদটির অস্তিত্বই ছিলো না ২০ ফেব্রুয়ারি সরকারের তরফ এ প্রকাশ করা শূন্যপদ এর তালিকায়, এমনকি ২৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি কাউন্সেলিং এর দিন পর্যন্তও। এই সিদ্ধান্তের কোনো যৌক্তিক ব্যাখ্যা নেই, প্রশাসনিক প্রতিহিংসা ছাড়া। মেধা এবং নিয়মকানুন উপেক্ষা করে কাউন্সেলিং প্রক্রিয়াকে কার্যত প্রহসনে পরিণত করা হয়েছে। উল্লেখযোগ্য, ২০২৪ সালের ৯ই আগস্ট আর.জি. কর মেডিক্যাল কলেজে ঘটে যাওয়া নির্মম হত্যাকাণ্ডের প্রতিবাদে যে জুনিয়র চিকিৎসকরা নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিলেন, তাঁদের অন্যতম ছিলেন ডা. দেবাশিস হালদার। অতীতেও আমরা দেখেছি, আন্দোলনরত চিকিৎসকদের ওপর সরকারি নিপীড়নের দৃষ্টান্ত—সুপ্রিম কোর্টের নির্দেশ অমান্য করেও। তবে এবারের ঘটনা সম্পূর্ণভাবে নিয়মবহির্ভূত এবং উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত প্রতিহিংসার চরম উদাহরণ। ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল জুনিয়র ডক্টর ফ্রন্ট (WBJDF) এই ঘটনার তীব্র নিন্দা জানায়। অবিলম্বে ডা. দেবাশিস হালদারকে তাঁর নির্ধারিত মেরিটলিস্ট অনুযায়ী পাওয়া পদে নিয়মমাফিক পুনর্বহাল করা হোক। আমরা সমস্ত সচেতন নাগরিক, শুভবুদ্ধি সম্পন্ন মানুষ এবং গণতন্ত্রে বিশ্বাসী সকলকে এই ধরনের অনিয়ম ও দমনমূলক পদক্ষেপের বিরুদ্ধে সোচ্চার হওয়ার আহ্বান জানাই। As in every year, this year too, under the supervision of Swasthya Bhawan, the bond postings of Senior Residents have been carried out through a so-called "transparent" and institutional counseling process, based on the final MD examination marks. In this process, 778 second-year Senior Resident doctors received initial joining letters for various hospitals. Among them, Dr. Debashis Haldar was allotted the Department of Anesthesiology at Howrah District Hospital through regular counseling on February 27th. But shockingly, today, May 26th, the final appointment list released by Swasthya Bhawan shows a glaring and inexplicable irregularity—while the postings of 777 doctors remain unchanged, only Dr. Debashis Haldar’s posting has been mysteriously altered. He has now been directed to join Gazole Hospital in Malda district, a place where no such post even existed in the government’s own official vacancy list published on February 20th—or even on the day of counseling itself, February 27th. A new post seems to have been conjured out of nowhere just to shift him. There is absolutely no logical justification for this change—except administrative vengeance. Merit and protocol have been blatantly disregarded. The entire counseling process has been rendered a farce. It's important to note that Dr. Debashis Haldar was one of the leading voices in the protests following the brutal murder at R.G. Kar Medical College on August 9, 2024. We have seen, time and again, how doctors who stand up against injustice face state-backed retaliation—even in defiance of Supreme Court directives. But this current incident is not just another instance of suppression—it is a grotesque example of unlawful, deliberate vendetta. The West Bengal Junior Doctor Front (WBJDF) strongly condemns this shameful act. We demand the immediate reinstatement of Dr. Debashis Haldar to the position he rightfully earned by merit, as per counseling norms. We call upon every conscious citizen, every right-minded individual, and every believer in democracy to raise their voice against such blatant injustice and authoritarian oppression.
