*Control Room / CCTV Operator x1- Sandton* Canyon Protection Services Sandton Permanent Full Time Published: 6 hours ago Introduction Canyon Protection Services would like to recruit an operator who works within a central control room to monitor, overseeing equipment, responding to alarms, and coordinating with other teams to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the facility. . Duties & Responsibilities DUTIES: Organising various parts of activities to enable collaboration and efficient communication. 2.1.1Monitor CCTV cameras and initiate appropriate response to suspicious activities. 2.1.2 Monitor computerized burglar and fire alarm systems and initiate appropriate response to alarm activations. 2.1.3 Monitor guard patrol monitoring systems and alert shift supervisors on any deviations. 2.1.4 Update computer-based incident logging system and generate the reports. 2.1.5 Operate the 24/7 emergency number and initiate appropriate response to emergency situations. 2.1.6 Operate remote controlled gate control systems. 2.1.7 Operate all radio communication systems. 2.1.8 Perform administration duties relating to a control room environment. 2.1.9 Compiling of all shift incidents with full details. 2.2.0 Suspicious activity detected via CCTV and appropriate response initiated. 2.2.1 Alarm alerts logged, and emergency service responders dispatched within 3 minutes after receiving the alarm. 2.2.2 Security supervisory and management personnel dispatched upon detection of patrol deviations. 2.2.3 Updated incident logging system with accurate information and escalate reports to relevant line managers 2.2.4 All gate openings recorded on incident logging system. 2.2.5 Emergency telephones answered within 30 seconds and emergency response services dispatched after obtaining required information. 2.2.6 Radio systems fully operational with hourly radio checks performed to all manned security posts and vehicles. 2.2.7 All control room registers completed accurately and neatly. 2.2.8 Capturing of daily sites postings. 2.2.9 Keep your workstation neat and tidy at all times. 2.2.10 Unauthorised visitors should not be allowed in the Control Room. 2.2.11 All technical faults must be reported immediately on discovery thereof, to the Control Room manager in a form and manner which is prescribed. Desired Requirements & Qualifications QUALIFICATION Good interpersonal skills in order to liaise with client, community, SAPS and outside stakeholders. Grade 10/12 PSIRA grade B registration and training certificate. Control room training certificate. Computer literacy certificate 5 Years experience in control room and CCTV environment. REQUIREMENTS: IVMS knowledge with advanced computer skills. Knowledge of different Control Room software. Advanced excel spreadsheet knowledge. Technical aptitude: Understanding of the equipment, systems, and processes in the control room, as well as the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Attention to detail: The ability to monitor multiple screens and instruments for extended periods of time and spot any anomalies or potential issues. Analytical thinking: Being able to quickly analyze data, identify patterns, and make decisions based on that information. Communication skills: The ability to effectively communicate with team members, superiors, and external parties to ensure smooth operations and swift responses to incidents. Problem-solving: Capability to think on their feet and come up with solutions to unexpected situations. Stress management: The capacity to remain calm and focused under pressure, especially during emergencies or high-stress situations. Adaptability: Being able to adapt to changes in technology, procedures, or unexpected events. Must be able to speak, read and write English and fluently. Must have No Criminal Record or pending cases. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime when required. Must be available on a 24-hour standby basis.
