Cannabis and Contraband Seized in Overnight Anti-Crime Exercises Officers of the Central and South Western Divisions seized quantities of cannabis and illegal contraband during a series of anti-crime exercises conducted overnight. In the Central Division, officers attached to the Longdenville Police Post, acting on intelligence, conducted an operation in the Todd’s Road district between 10:00 p.m. on June 8th and 3:00 a.m. on June 9th, 2025. During the operation, police discovered 60 cannabis plants and two garbage bags containing approximately two kilogrammes of cured cannabis. The seized drugs are estimated to carry a street value of $300,000. Meanwhile, in the South Western Division, a coordinated exercise involving the South Western Division Task Force, the TTPS Intelligence Unit, officers from the Cedros and Point Fortin Police Stations, and the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard was conducted between 11:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8th. During the operation, officers searched a trailer located on Icacos Beach and discovered a quantity of illegal contraband. The items seized included 34 buckets of white cheese, four bags of sausages, 212 tins of tobacco paste, and various articles of clothing and personal items. A nearby pirogue was also searched as part of the operation. Authorities from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Tobacco Control Unit, and the Customs and Excise Division were contacted to assist with the ongoing investigation.
