*SICKLE CELL DISEASE 🩸*
It’s a condition you’re born with.
Instead of smooth, round red blood cells, people with sickle cell have banana-shaped ones.
These sickle cells get stuck in small blood vessels and block blood flow.
*Why Does It Cause Pain?*
When blood can’t flow properly, oxygen can’t reach parts of the body. This triggers a pain crisis, a sudden, sharp pain that can strike anywhere: chest, joints, belly, back. It’s not just uncomfortable. It can also be an excruciating pain.
