The United States is hoping to reach an agreement with China on the import of rare earth metals.
White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said this.
Hassett noted that while China’s exports of rare earth metals to the U.S. have increased, they have not reached the levels agreed upon earlier in Geneva.
He added that U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with Chinese leader Xi Jinping about the upcoming meeting in London, aiming to secure a deal on rare earth metals. Hassett also mentioned what he called a “very warm exchange” regarding a possible visit by Trump to China and a reciprocal visit by Xi to the United States.
