*From Professor Syed Danish* *PhD Position — École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Montréal, Canada* We are seeking a PhD student to work on the optimization of Large Language Models (LLMs) for deployment on edge devices in Internet of Things (IoT) environments. The research will focus on the design and development of optimization techniques to reduce the computational and energy overhead associated with LLM inference, enabling efficient, low-latency, and scalable on-device (edge) execution with minimal reliance on cloud infrastructure. The project will also explore Service-Level Objective (SLO)-aware deployment frameworks to ensure that LLMs consistently meet key performance criteria such as latency, throughput, and energy efficiency, which are critical in resource-constrained edge computing scenarios.
