Even in forced absence, her presence was powerfully felt. Dr. Mahrang Baloch has emerged as a fearless voice for the Indigenous Baloch people, challenging systemic violence, enforced disappearances, and the militarisation of their homeland. Her commitment to justice and peace has become a symbol of hope for many and a threat to those who fear truth and accountability. Peaceful human rights defenders like Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other human rights defenders in Balochistan must be honoured for their bravery not punished, silenced, or imprisoned. BYC’s organizer Mahrang Baloch continued detention is not only a grave injustice, but a direct assault on freedom of expression and the universal right to dissent. We will keep resisting state violence.
