“The establishment of the Waqf Umeed Portal by the government is illegal and tantamount to contempt of court.” New Delhi: 4th June 2025 Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, stated in a press note that the law introduced by the government, titled “Waqf 2025,” is currently under consideration in the Supreme Court. All Muslim organizations have rejected it. Opposition parties, human rights organizations, as well as Sikh, Christian, and other minority communities have also declared it unacceptable. However, it is unfortunate that despite this, the government is launching the “Waqf Umeed Portal” from June 6 and is making the registration of waqf properties mandatory through it. This action is entirely illegal and clearly constitutes contempt of court. According to reports, this registration is entirely based on the disputed law, which has been challenged in court and labeled as unconstitutional. Therefore, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board strongly opposes it. It appeals to Muslims and State Waqf Boards to refrain from registering Waqf properties on this portal until the court delivers a decision on the matter. Waqf Board administrators are urged to present memorandums stating that such actions should be avoided until the Supreme Court issues its verdict. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board will soon approach the Apex court against this move of the government. ✍️ Issued by Dr. Vaquar Uddin Latifi Office Secretary
