It was from here, on a tiny island in the Black Sea, that one sentence echoed across the world. In February 2022, Ukrainian border guards stationed on Snake Island responded to a Russian warship's demand to surrender with the now famous phrase: 'Russian warship, go f*** yourself'. It was the moment that embodied the Ukrainian spirit of resistance. Although temporarily occupied, the island was liberated by Ukrainian forces on 4 July 2022, after a series of precise strikes and a determined campaign.
