In response, Apple remotely disabled the stolen iPhones, displaying a message urging thieves to return the devices and warning that the phones are disabled and being tracked. Apple was one of 23 businesses hit by looting and vandalism, alongside jewelry stores, pharmacies, and gas stations. According to the LAPD, 14 arrests were made during the unrest.
