From the Acts chapter 2 to Azuza Street and then the Ayo Babalola phenomenon of the 1930s, revivals of righteousness and massive salvation of sinners can not be denied. Such revivals in history brought unprecedented consciousness of God's power and glory. People of that generation trusted God more than mortal men. They sought after God's kingdom with tenacity and wouldn't allow idolatry to thrive! The call of men of God wasn't predicated on hunger, unemployment, or craze after materialism. Recent history, however, does not align with such testimony. Sanctuaries are becoming saturated with miscreants and touts pretending as priests! To have a mammoth crowd in mega auditoriums with state-of-the-art facilities and musical instruments, stand-up comedians, and dancing work-outs are the current metrics of measuring revivals. This is rather sad. It is time to break the veils of mirage called revival these days and stop the promotion of syncretism and deception that is prevalent in the modern church. Prayer is offered for money, and miracles are presented for sale. Many lives have been strangulated in the hands of the modern Simon, the sorcerer! If the remnants can effectively mobilise a re-evangelisation of pseudo-believers of today and raise true ministers for the end-time harvest, the last waves of revivals through pure discipleship models will take over and the Lord's soon return will be facilitated. Although, the pockets of revivals of today should not be despised, albeit, we must get radical about soul winning and be desperate after Christ character, for better impact, as the clock of the end-time ticks away!
