A rudder is a primary control mechanism used to steer a ship, a boat, a submarine, or any vehicle that moves through a fluid medium. It then means that without the rudder, the vehicle could stray and ultimately sink! A rudder in the context of this discourse is the curriculum of discipline, the godly character patterns, the critical lifestyle pointers, and other metrics of valued behaviour template that could guide the next generation. These are the metrics that guided Timothy while growing up under his mum and his grandma. Unfortunately, things have changed. So-called mentors and role models of today are as dangerously toxic as the generation they're pretending to be mentoring. The music industry is a mess. The business world is a scam. The political economy is a tragedy. The education sector is a piece of painting on an opaque canvas. The health platform is vague and compromised. The security landscape is run by terror and tyranny. If a leader never had the history of following a dignified mentor, he or she would never build a sustainable rudder to guide the next generation from being overrun by the madness of modernity and the glittering vanities of infamy. How would you evangelise the wayward and the reckless by preaching a message full of fireworks without the flames of pentecost? How would you rescue some youngsters who see ministry as a money-making venture? How will you reach a bewitched congregation to stop them from perceiving miracle as magic? The pulpit of several deified mentors has become a platform to raise monstrous bastards. Unless an urgent action is taken, the present generation is headed in the direction of doom!
