SHORT AND SHARP WITH DR SOLA ALIMI May 19, 2025. 9:33pm. GEHAZI: A DESPERATE FOLLOWER WHO NEVER BECAME A DISCIPLE! I recall a young man who really typified Gehazi in his entire manner of life. He came to participate in the discipleship training of our ministry. I gave him lots of opportunities to learn, but I was surprised that he had a different kind of intention. He was deviously desperate. He was always loitering around guest ministers and some brethren who were well-off in the ministry. He had no giving or sacrificial lifestyle. When he refused to follow the path of grace, he was ultimately overcome by the spirit of iniquity in the lives of those who got attracted to him rather than becoming connected to Jesus, the giver of all grace! Today, many young men are Gehazi-personified. They are covetous and excessively indulgent in ungodly activities. They appear zealous in the midst of other brethren, yet empty zeal and religion couldn't make them any better than a counterfeit and hypocrite. Gehazi was a certified pretender. He had the audacity to receive and hide unauthorised gifts from his master. Sometimes, I feel very sad when I see people who are very close to redemption running on a slippery path to destruction. That you're close to any man of God is not a licence for entering into heaven. You must get to know Jesus yourself and for real. A Gehazi is an individual who could spare time to follow a minister but never grew up to become a disciple. Following a leader is not the same as becoming a child of God. Men follow men for different reasons. Don't be caught in the web of judgment or hell before you could realise the devastating loss of not knowing Christ. The best of gold from Naaman the leper is a thrash that could not compare with the eternal riches of those who have become born again and are determined to serve God without looking for crumbs from the hands of a big man in church and ministry.
