Howbeit, the one spoken of in this verse is the promiscuous woman, the immoral one who seduces others into her chambers and bed of abominable acts. I (Wisdom) beseech you by the mercies of God, be mindful of her gimmicks and enticements. Flee her ways and have nothing to do with her; lest you end up in the pit of damnation where she has led many mighty men to fall. The caution is to flee and not to contend with her. Don’t pride in your strength and try to withstand her. I can categorically tell you that many strong men, even stronger than you have bowed under her conquest in the past. Don’t put your strength or the Lord to test.
