Your Life In This World Is Like The Days Of Hajj Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali رحمه الله wrote, The whole world is like a journey, similar to the days of pilgrimage. It is a time for believers to abstain from what Allah has forbidden in terms of forbidden desires. Whoever exercises patience during the duration of their journey in adhering to their restrictions (Ihram) and refrains from indulging in desires, when their life journey ends and they reach the "Mina of their destiny, i.e., death", they have fulfilled their obligations and vows. Their days then become like the days of Mina: days of eating, drinking, and remembering Allah Almighty. They become guests of Allah Almighty in His eternal presence, forever and ever. That is why it is said to the people of paradise: "Eat and drink at ease for what you used to do" [Surah At-Tur: 19], and "They will be told, 'Eat and drink joyfully for what you did in the days gone by'." [Surah Al-Haaqqa: 24]. [Couplet] I have fasted from all the pleasures of my life... and the day of meeting You (Allah) will be the breaking of my fast. Whoever fasts from their desires in this life will break their fast the next day after death, and whoever hastens to indulge in what has been forbidden to them from their pleasures will be punished by being deprived of their share of Paradise and missing out. This is evident in someone who drinks alcohol in this world but will not do so in the hereafter, and someone who wears silk in this world but will not wear it in the hereafter. [Couplets] You are in a place of dispersion... so prepare yourself for your dispersion. Make the world like a day... that you fast from your desires. Let your breaking of the fast be with Allah... on the day of your passing. [Excerpt from "Lata'if al-Ma'arif" (p. 510) by Ibn Rajab] الدّنيا كلها أيام سفر كأيّام الحجّ، وهي زمان إحرام المؤمن عمّا حرّم الله عليه من الشهوات، فمن صبر في مدّة سفره على إحرامه وكفّ عن الهوى، فإذا انتهى سفر عمره ووصل إلى منى المنى، فقد قضى تفثه ووفّى نذره، فصارت أيّامه كلّها كأيّام منى، أيّام أكل وشرب وذكر لله عزّ وجلّ، وصار في ضيافة الله عزّ وجلّ في جواره أبد الأبد، ولهذا يقال لأهل الجنة: {كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئاً بِما كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ} [الطّور: ١٩]، {كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئاً بِما أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الْأَيّامِ الْخالِيَةِ}[الحاقّة: ٢٤].. فِي يَومِ وَفَاتِكَ [لطائف المعارف (ص/510) لابن رجب] 🗝️ Keys To Knowledge | T.me/K2KNYC
