*Monthly Scams Bulletin #6*
*(6 June 2025)*
In a recent spate of phishing scams, victims would encounter the scam by clicking on links embedded in:
📧💬 *Fake Emails/Text Messages*
💻 *Fake Websites*
👀 *Fake Advertisements*
These links will redirect victims to phishing websites that prompt them to key in their personal and banking details, including their One-Time Passwords (OTP).
Victims would only realise that they had been scammed when they discovered unauthorised transactions in their bank statements.
*Look out for the signs of phishing!*
📧💬 *Emails/Text Messages*:
✅️ Legitimate organisations use official SMS Sender IDs. *SMSes from government agencies will carry the 'gov.sg' sender ID.*
💻 *Websites*:
✅️ Always check the *email address* closely and do not depend on the email sender ID that could be spoofed.
👀 *Advertisements*:
✅️ Always check directly with the company, offering the promotion on its legitimacy.
*REMEMBER: Your bank log-in details are private, especially your OTP!*
If you are unsure if something is a scam, call and check with the *24/7 ScamShield Helpline at 1799*. ☎️
