You’ve probably heard it before—“Follow your heart.” “Do what sets your soul on fire.” “Chase what speaks to you.”
Beautiful advice, right?
But let’s be honest—it’s not always that simple.
A lot of people are stuck doing things they never truly wanted to do. Not because they lack passion, but because life demands something else. Maybe it's the career they fell into out of necessity. Maybe it's the job they keep because it pays the bills, supports their family, or keeps them afloat. For many, following their passion isn’t just hard—it feels impossible.
Some people are the sole provider. Others never had the chance to explore what they really love. And sure, there are a few lucky ones who seem to have “made it,” doing what they love for a living. But luck is rarely the full story—more often, it’s timing, persistence, sacrifice, and a little bit of magic.
That’s what gives me hope.
Because if it can happen for them, maybe in time, it can happen for me too. For all of us.
I’ve learned this: no matter where you are in life, never let go of that small spark inside you—the one that lights up when you write, or draw, or sing, or dance, or imagine a different version of yourself. The spark that makes you feel alive.
No, it won’t be easy. And no, you don’t need to quit your job tomorrow. But you can take small steps. Tiny rebellions in your day-to-day life that honor your soul. Join a contest, take a class, save a little each month toward something you love. Say yes to the version of you that’s still dreaming.
Do something every day—no matter how small—that brings you closer to the life you actually want.
You don’t have to walk away from everything.
But don’t walk away from yourself either.
Always remember the things that give you purpose.
And when the world feels heavy, go where your heart feels light and your soul feels loud.
Because that’s where you are.
And you’re worth finding.
