*They took a ₹100 jhola and sold it for ₹4,228. This is not creativity. This is pure business*.
A U.S. brand saw a simple Indian cloth bag, gave it a fancy name—“Indian Souvenir Bag”—and made a huge profit.
This is how the world works….
We make the ideas.
They sell them better.
This is not the first time—turmeric became "golden latte", ghee became "clarified butter", and now the jhola is a $48 ‘exotic tote’
And The sad part is…
The people who actually make these jholas still earn ₹200–₹300 a day. No name, no credit, no cut from the profits. Someone else is making Crores using their hard work.
This is why India keeps missing the big picture…We celebrate culture, others monetise it.
We should stop being suppliers and rather be owners!!!
Because in capitalism, applause doesn’t pay rent. Profits do!!!
*What’s stopping India from owning its cultural IP?*
❤️Lack of branding mindset
