We held an Optimised Care event this week. The event was for health and social care professionals and aimed to demonstrate how the use of the right equipment, at the right time, in the right place, can support the care provided for people in their homes. This approach to care promotes dignity and independence for adults who are cared for at home. Giving people the opportunity to have their needs reassessed can mean that their care package can change if they can have certain types of equipment at their home. It can mean that they can have one carer per visit, instead of two, by using a range of equipment suitable for them. Over 140 health and social staff from Sheffield were shown equipment and adaptations that they can prescribe for care in the home. The demonstrations, trying out the equipment and the opportunity to ask questions gave valuable insight into the latest innovations in equipment and adaptations for the home.
