Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road Rehabilitation Update as at 11 June 2025
The rehabilitation and upgrading of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road is progressing well, with five contractors actively working on designated sections (Lots 1–5). Detours are being opened to ensure smooth traffic flow when construction commences.
Why Detours?
Detours are essential for:
✅ Safety – Keeping motorists and workers safe during construction.
✅ Efficiency – Allowing contractors to work faster without disrupting traffic.
✅ Quality – Ensuring the new road is built to last!
Here’s the latest detour progress from each contractor:
LOT 1 – Fossil Contracting
4km bush clearing done for detour construction (from 48.6km peg)
LOT 2 – Masimba Construction
5km Bush clearing done on the detour construction(85km to 90km peg)
LOT 3 – Syvern Investment
5km Bush cleared done (99.6km to 104km peg) bush clearing ongoing (more km being opened)
LOT 4 – Bitumen Resources
4.2km Bush cleared extending from chainage 201.6km toward 191km
LOT 5 – Tensor Systems
5km Bush cleared (201.6km towards 211.6km peg)
