SKH is one of the healthcare institutions taking part in a $5.77 million research initiative led by SGH! The five-year Singapore Systemic Sclerosis Precision Medicine Project (Sysmic) aims to better diagnose and treat systemic sclerosis, a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease with largely unknown causes. Around 300 patients will be recruited to analyse genetic data and develop more precise diagnostic tools and personalised treatments, especially for Asian patients who tend to have lower survival rates.
