At the EU humanitarian forum in Brussels: OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs participates in a panel on the food crisis in Sahel During his intervention at the panel on food crisis in Sahel and Lake Chad Basin within the framework of the Fourth European Humanitarian Forum, the OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakhit stated that all countries in the concerned regions are members of the OIC, and therefore, the humanitarian situation remains a top priority on the agenda; and through the regional office in Niger, the Organization managed to implement different humanitarian projects. Amb. Tarig mentioned that in October 2024, the OIC, in coordination with King Salaman Humanitarian and Relief Center, UNHCR, and OCHA, organized the donors conference for the Sahel and Lake Chad Basin countries. During the conference, donor countries and organizations pledged over one billion dollars. Amb. Tarig stressed that the OIC and its member states & institutions will continue their sincere efforts to support the countries of the region in addressing different humanitarian challenges.
