A South Africa based Malawian Omari Selemani is planning to drag Malawi government to court over atrocities he suffered at the hands of South African Immigration authorities while in transit.
Selemani who in April left Malawi for South Africa claims he was arrested and denied entry into the rainbow nation despite issuing Malawi passport over what border authorities said possession of fake travel document.
He narrates, "despite possessing a valid passport issued by the Malawi Immigration department, I was subjected to torture and inhumane treatment which I believe is a serious violation of my rights hence planning to seek legal redress."
He however reveals that after being denied entry into South Africa, some Zimbabweans at Beitbridge aided him to enter into the rainbow nation "using unchartered roots".
Malawian Immigration authorities are yet to react to allegations made by Selemani.
We will keep you updated.
