British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of "dragging his feet" on the issue of an unconditional ceasefire in Russia's war against Ukraine. “President Trump wants to bring the conflict to an end—I have no doubt about that. We are, I hope, moving closer to some form of ceasefire or agreement. President Zelensky has made it absolutely clear that he wants an unconditional ceasefire. Putin, in my view, is dragging his feet. That’s why I believe it’s important—together with others—to make it clear that there will be consequences if Russia refuses to agree to an unconditional ceasefire,” said Starmer. The British Prime Minister acknowledged that the path to peace is rarely straightforward. “But I believe this is what President Trump wants. It’s what the Ukrainian people want. This is a war waged by an aggressor—Russia—and we’re doing everything we can to deliver a result. I am determined that the United Kingdom will play a leading role in this effort,” he added.
