*NAAMAN’S RESTORATION*
*Scripture Reading:* 2 Kings 5:1-19
> _So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. *2 Kings 5:14*_
Naaman almost missed God. He almost missed out on his healing. After he furiously stomped away from Elisha’s house, Naaman’s servants dared to reason with him. A servant’s recommendation had gotten him to Elisha, and another servant’s reasoning got him to the Jordan. Thank God for people who reason with us to help us overcome our offended egos. The story of Naaman shows us how God can use modest people and means to get us on the right track.
With a little nudging, Naaman went to the Jordan River to wash as instructed by the prophet. He dipped seven times in the waters of the Jordan and came out cleansed; ‘his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child’. What a remarkable miracle! God restored his skin to what it was when he was about a baby. The statement about Naaman’s flesh being like that of a baby is symbolic of a new beginning. The Lord gave Naaman a new beginning.
Elisha’s instruction to Naaman was precise; wash or dip seven times in the Jordan. Seven is usually used in the Bible to symbolise perfection. That means Naaman’s obedience had to be complete; he couldn’t obey partially. He had to fulfil all the righteous demands made on him. Faith must be complete for it to have any effect on our lives.
Naaman received the healing that he desired. Right there in the river, his fears and defects were all washed away. He received more than physical healing; he also received the restoration of his confidence. Any apprehension he had of the disease gradually eating up his flesh while he was alive was gone. God washed away any insecurity Naaman had about the future of his military career in Jordan. He went in blemished and came out unblemished. May the Lord give each one of us a miracle of restoration as He did for Naaman. May He turn your life around and give you a brand-new beginning.
We serve a God of restoration. He can take whatever has been eaten or destroyed by the enemy and give it back to you.
*Prayer:* _Heavenly Father, help me to obey you completely. I trust you for full restoration and a new beginning. In Jesus’ name, *Amen!*_
