Reflections from Shifaa Ki Duaein
(17 June 2025)
In today’s lecture, Ustazah ji beautifully highlighted the trait of *“leg pulling”* that, unfortunately, has become common in our society.
It made me pause and reflect: How did we develop this trait — both as individuals and collectively as a nation?
Why is it that when we see someone progressing ahead of us — in any aspect of life — we feel threatened by their success?
Upon reflecting, I realised that one of the root causes is often a scarcity mindset.
At times, it is also due to an inner belief that perhaps the other person doesn’t truly deserve that success or recognition — and deep down, we wish that praise was directed towards us instead.
But when we dig deeper, this scarcity mindset is nothing more than a subtle lack of Taqwa — a weakness in our trust that Allah alone is Ar-Razzaq (The Ultimate Provider).
If we truly believed in the words of Allah:
وَلِلَّهِ خَزَآئِنُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ
"And to Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth.”
(Surah Al-Munafiqun, Verse 8)
— then His distribution of blessings, wealth, status, or success would not trouble us to the point of envy or leg pulling.
Rather, it would fill our hearts with peace, knowing that Allah’s treasures are unlimited — and His wisdom in giving is perfect.
So next time, instead of becoming a source of discouragement for others, may we *strive to become uplifters* — those who encourage, support, and sincerely rejoice in the success of others.
