When advocacy finds its voice in the heart of the forgotten-forests with justice firmly rooted in grassroots action, change, is always inevitable.
At the helm of this change stands a Transformer. Born on August 27 in New Ekuri Village, Akamkpa L.G.A., Cross River State, Aaron Egot is a powerhouse of purposeful leadership and hope for marginalized communities. With a Bachelor of Science in Policy Studies & Administration from the University of Calabar (2004), Aaron’s work has been built on the bedrock of strategy, service and social justice.
As the Executive Director of @Emerging Genderplus Outreach Team (EGOT) since 2018, Aaron has fiercely championed gender equality and human rights talks and walks. His passion has fueled awareness campaigns across the FCT and about 10 communities in Cross River state. His belief is simple but profound: change begins when we give people the tools to rewrite their own stories.
Currently serving as the State Coordinator for the Young Men’s Network against SGBV in Cross River and Trafficking Focal Point for the NSCDC since 2015, Aaron is leading bold interventions against sexual and gender-based violence and human trafficking.
His impact speaks:
👉In 2022, he secured ASSH funding for vital community development in his native New Ekuri.
👉In 2023–2024, he led a Child, Early, and Forced Marriage (CEFM) prevention and empowerment project across three LGAs with USAID/Palladium support.
👉In 2024, in partnership with the Nigerian Women Trust Fund, EGOT successfully guided five forest communities in drafting and adopting bylaws against SGBV, a monumental step toward safeguarding women and girls in vulnerable areas.
Aaron’s heartbeat is community. Whether through volunteering or mentoring, his philosophy of empowering the marginalized through education and grassroots engagement drives every initiative he leads.
A HeforShe advocate, this #mcm, we celebrate Aaron Egot - a strategic builder of safer futures, and a relentless advocate for gender equality in places the world often forgets.
