Is a very important question - one that shouldn't be swept under the carpet, especially when directed at the most vulnerable. Food. Food. Food. While food is a basic human need and right, millions around the world still struggle to access this basic human need. Behind the abundance seen in some parts of the world lies a deep inequality, one that calls for urgent attention, sustainable solutions, and collective action. @The Kairos Initiative is stepping into this gap with their sustainable solutions. Their mission is rooted in the belief that the journey to achieving #SDG2 begins with empowering communities through knowledge and practical solutions. One such solution is the #BackyardSackFarming Project in Brishin Gandu, Bauchi - a simple yet amazing initiative helping families grow their own #food right at home. With just a few sacks, soil, and seeds, this project is transforming backyards into mini farms, providing households with access to fresh vegetables and a sense of #foodsecurity. The Kairos Initiative is already witnessing the impact: women in the community are now cultivating vegetables, feeding their families, building resilience, independence and food sustainability. The Kairos Initiative, a member organization of the Network is committed to address practical and basic needs of the disadvantaged vulnerable people, commissioned to make communities a better place for all with a special focus on women, children, and youths, whilst bringing awareness to their plight through their practical and sustainable interventions. Did you know #Hypertension is a major cause of premature death worldwide? According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 1.28 billion adults aged 30โ79 years worldwide are living with hypertension. Even more concerning is the fact that two-thirds of these individuals live in low- and middle-income countries, where access to healthcare services, proper diagnosis, and treatment can be limited. Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is often called the "silent killer" because it rarely shows obvious symptoms. Yet, if left unmanaged, it significantly increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and even death. The rise of hypertension is fueled by several factors - unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, tobacco and alcohol use, stress, and aging populations. Despite its widespread impact, only about 1 in 5 people with hypertension have the condition under control. This means that a large portion of the global population remains at risk for severe health complications, often without knowing it. Hypertension is preventable and manageable through simple but effective lifestyle changes and, where necessary, medication. ๐Get your blood pressure checked regularly even if you feel fine. ๐Eat a balanced diet: reduce salt, saturated fat, and processed foods. ๐Stay physically active: at least 30 minutes of moderate activity most days. ๐Avoid tobacco use and limit alcohol consumption. ๐Manage stress through relaxation and adequate rest. ๐Adhere to prescribed medications if diagnosed with hypertension.
