17/06/2025, 𝓼𝓮𝓪𝓯𝓪𝓻𝓮𝓻'𝓼 𝓾𝓹𝓭𝓪𝓽𝓮 An inland freighter, Esche, developed a leak while navigating the Dortmund-Ems Canal near Ibbenbüren-Dörenthe, Germany, late on 15th June. The vessel, carrying 1,300 tons of gravel, was at risk of sinking. The incident prompted an immediate response from local emergency services. Around 50 firefighters were deployed to the scene and worked for several hours to stabilize the vessel. Crews successfully pumped out water from the freighter and began offloading its cargo to prevent further risk.
