The Norwegian-flagged general cargo vessel Wilson Nanjing collided with a moored vessel at Bremen port, Germany on 12th June. No injuries or pollution were reported.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:15 pm local time when Wilson Nanjing was departing from Weserport Terminal 1 in Bremen’s industrial port. During the maneuver, the vessel’s port-side struck the bow of a stationary vessel docked at the pier, causing minor damage to both the vessels.
In response, Bremen Water Police arrived and detected the smell of alcohol on the 55-year-old Russian captain. A voluntary breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level that exceeded the permitted limit. The captain was immediately barred from continuing the voyage. The blood sample of the captain was collected for further analysis, and a $6000 security deposit was imposed.
