At the West Africa Gas Summit 2025, held from June 10–13 at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana, the President of the Nigerian Gas Association (PNGA) delivered a powerful goodwill message on behalf of the NGA. In alignment with the summit’s theme, “Rapid Regional Gas Sector Expansion for Socio-Economic Transformation,” the PNGA underscored the need for regional collaboration to unlock the full potential of West Africa’s abundant natural gas resources.
The address emphasised the importance of developing harmonised policies, interoperable infrastructure, and investment-friendly frameworks to build a truly integrated regional gas market. It highlighted gas as not just a transitional fuel, but a key enabler of energy access, industrialisation, innovation, and food security across the continent.
The PNGA reiterated NGA’s commitment to advancing the objectives of the NGA and supporting the Nigeria’s Decade of Gas initiative while calling for African-led solutions, regional energy security, and increased cross-border cooperation. The President also commended the efforts of both the Nigerian and Ghanaian governments in prioritising gas as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
As Africa navigates the global energy transition, the NGA calls on West Africa to lead by example — transforming natural gas into a driver of prosperity, resilience, and shared regional progress.
