*Deportation of Sheik Gumi: Another Reconfirmation of Saudi Arabia as Truly The Holy Land* The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has, with one shot, proven itself as not just the world headquarters of the Muslim religion but also as the true holy land it indeed was. The Saudi government, without batting an eyelid, has not only refused the Nigerian government's over-pampered terrorist disguised as a Muslim sect leader, Sheik Gumi, the opportunity to participate in this year's Hajj operation but also deported him back to his homeland, Nigeria, where perhaps the nonsense and irritant Gumi has constituted himself into can thrive without being checkmated or punished. Saudi Arabia, known for being no-nonsense, has shown the world its stance. Stealing, no matter the gratitude, attracts the punishment of cutting the hands, probably the hand used for that same stealing offense. No negotiation is allowed. Unlike what obtains in Nigeria, where the same hands used to steal may even get adorned in gold bracelets in a ceremony presided over by the government. Saudi Arabia, which will behead a drug trafficker, will never tolerate another unserious government-certified lunatic, a trader in human blood and sorrow, to brazenly step on their soils, worldly acclaimed as holy land, to further insult Allah and confirm the wrong notion that Islam is a religion of violence. Hence, their quick and commendable deportation of the eccentric character called Sheik Gumi back to Nigeria, his country, where all things and everything go. Kudos to the Kingdom. The irritant Gumi, who was always treated with kid gloves here back home by the Nigerian government, was not just deported but also banned from entering Saudi Arabia for life. His offense, according to the Saudi authorities, includes but is not limited to his outspoken views on global politics, particularly his criticism of Saudi authorities regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict and his support for Palestine. Saudi authorities also raised security concerns linked to Gumi's alleged associations with dangerous groups. The same Gumi, back home in Nigeria, is a licensed negotiator between the government and terrorists. He serves as the go-between person between the government and terrorists, doing the price and conditionality negotiation without anybody lifting a finger. Had the Nigerian government not been what they are, Gumi, since his deportation back into the country, would still be cooling his feet in the Department of State Services (DSS) facilities for his being an international disgrace to the country. But what have we; he went back straight to his abode, maybe amid pomp and pageantry. Up till now, no news on the authorities' invitation to him to come and state his side of the story on what transpired between him and the Saudi government to warrant such an international embarrassment for him and Nigeria by extension. Anyways, now that Saudi has helped do what Nigeria's government didn't have the balls to do, and for whatever reasons, which is to look Gumi straight in the eyes and tell him that he is a terrorist and a dangerous element to society, what next? Yes, what next? Will this be the end of the matter? Will the Nigerian government, in case they don't have sufficient reasons to nail him here, not liaise with its Saudi counterparts using all available diplomatic means to get sufficient information about him and his activities in order to put the high-risk security threat character where he rightly belongs, and where does he belong? The gallows, and for the rest of his life, of course. Akoni Oodua Ayeniromo Capone de Tutti 29/05/2025
