Masvingo Mirror has it on good authority that all officers commanding yesterday received an instruction to submit the names of all sons and daughters of war veterans who are allegedly supposed to then be promoted without going through procedure like writing examinations. The deadline for submission is 8am today (28 May, 2025). National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyati professed ignorance on the matter. Masvingo Mirror understands that the instruction did not go through the normal Police communication lines. The programme is titled: *Nominal Roll of Police Officers who are sons and daughters of war veterans.* Promotion of ZRP Officers used to be a rigorous process, ensuring that only the best rose to higher ranks. The names were to be submitted together with rank, station and war vet number of the parent. One of the instruction seen by Masvingo Mirror read; “Good afternoon my commanders.
