MASVINGO – A Masvingo man who stabbed a fellow villager on the forehead over a stolen jacket has been sentenced to an effective four year jail term by Regional Magistrate Innocent Bepura.
Ephraim Maera (27) of Village 27, Manyame stabbed Kudzanai Tarirai Mlambo (41) once on the forehead, once on the occiput, hit him on the mouth with a brick and punched him twice.
The incident happened on May 21, 2025, around 6am at Manyama Business Centre.
Magistrate Bepura said that the Maera’s actions are not consistent with self-defense and it is clear that he intended to harm Mlambo as he used a dangerous weapon.
“You deserve a custodial sentence so that a clear message is send to the community that the court does not tolerate such acts,” said Magistrate Bepura.
Circumstances are that Maera Mlambo was headed to the local business centre to purchase groceries when he met Maera.
Maera accused Mlambo of stealing his jacket the previous night and went on to slap him before he could reply. Mlambo ran away and only returned to the business centre around 11am.......Full story on www.masvingomirror.com
